Distribute Stores to Earlier Occupants ; I Shall Report to the President Anything Otherwise – Otumfuor to City Authorities

The Asantehene, Otumfuor Osei Tutu II has expressed that, government officials responsible for the distribution of the Kejetia stores should be measured in giving out the stores.

According to him, names of earlier settlers have been already written and validated – a phenomenon he charged the authorities to go by and dared anything otherwise would bring to the knowledge of the President.

Delivering his speech said that before the project, most people said that they were going to mine gold from the area. He said that all those who were occupants of the facility before should be given first before others.

“I do not know why the traders have not been in the stores by now since they have their names written earlier. If you do not give them first but do otherwise, I shall report this to the President.”

He continued that anything contrary to the purpose would defeat government’s intent.

Speech after the Asantehene was the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo who expressed that promises by his government are being honoured in the region.

Talking about the $2 billion sinohydro facility granted by the Chinese government, he said that the region would have its fair share yielding projects such as community facilities – police station, post offices, hospitals and others alike.

He mentioned road facilities which are underway in the metropolis citing Suame and Tafo.

He further expressed that there would be better conditions for easy mobility of traders as threats of fire in the markets are major challenges to trading centres in the country. He added also that customers would have the best of comforts to shop at the various centres with ease.

He listed some major facilities planned underway including hospitals such as the Komfo Anokye Maternity Block and other road facilities within the municipalities and the metropolis respectively.

Declaring the second phase launched, the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo went ahead to unveil a statue in honour of the Asantehene, Otumfuor Osei Tutu II.

At the event were various market groups, the public and many government officials who were there to complement the event.
